Henke Sass Wolf invests in climate protection
After having successfully installed a combined heat and power plant (CHP) last year, Henke Sass Wolf continuously invests in climate protection with the production of sustainable energy. As of late, a new photovoltaic system is supporting the eco-friendly power supply at the HSW headquarters in Tuttlingen.
“With an expected power generation of 117.238 kWh per year, the system will save 48.185 kg CO2 according to the calculations by the Federal Environmental Agency “, explains Michael Appl (Co-CEO). „In the course of 2024 another photovoltaic system will be set into operation. It is presently in progress and is designed for the generation of approximately 135.000 kWh. This will reduce our consumption of CO2 for another 55.500 kg“, continues Michael Appl. „So Henke Sass Wolf is on track to work CO2-neutrally”.
Using the ambient heat with heat pumps is one of the key technologies for effective climate protection and greenhouse gas neutral buildings. A compelling argument for the Henke Sass Wolf management board to additionally invest in this sector. A water-water heat pump has already been installed and will go into operation by the end of this year. Gerd Schmidt, Head of Facility Management at Henke Sass Wolf, outlines the economic and ecological benefits: „By means of the heat pump we use the waste heat of the CNC production to heat the headquarter building in winter. During summer the heat pump supports us by cooling the machines. The use of the waste heat from the compressed air generation could also be extended. We can save up to 70 % of the current gas consumption and thus decisively contribute to our sustainability”.
Henke Sass Wolf is also actively engaged in the area of e-mobility and provides 16 charging stations for company cars at the headquarters in Tuttlingen. Another 10 stations will follow in the course of next year. For e-bikers Henke Sass Wolf put 4 charging points with service facilities at the employee’s disposal.
